Wasn't impressed with bully dog

My J/A is off to edge for some updates so out of curiosity I had a try before you buy installed yesterday.
There was no sop power gains that I could tell and it seemed to make my engine louder at idle.
This morning the truck wouldn't start, after 20 min of trying and waiting it finally fired up and run fine all the way to work.
After work the same thing happened, no start so when it finally fired I went and had it removed now my trucks a dog, no power.
Accelerating it sounds like timing rattle under light or heavy throttle.
It runs smooth just noisy and no power.
What could of just happened. Injector maybe?

Thanks, Mooseman

The try before you buy has had alot of problems, many symptoms such as yours. Not sure how to help you though, hopefully someone will chime in.

Hey Mooseman,

Where in Utah are you located? I could meet up with you and let you use my SmartyCR to get the latest factory tune on your truck. Otherwise, you'll probably need to take it into the dealer...

Thanks!

the whole idea of try-before-you scares me. so it just "disappears" after so long? yea not for me!

i run a Triple Dog on my truck (have run 3 different ones) and have never had a problem.

Thanks for the offer but I hauled it up to a Idaho dealer last night. After a few calls last night I think I have more issues than just a program.
BTW I'm in Logan.

Thanks, Mooseman

I had the try-before-you-buy on my truck - could not tell much of a difference either. I think it is because this download is only 25HP or so - not much of a difference on our heavy trucks. The big thing I noticed was a peppier start and better fuel economy.

Get the Diablosport and stack it with that hot juice. You will be happy with it. With the extreme I outran a smarty on level 9 and we had identical trucks. With the hot juice stacked you will kill the smarty and you will spend just a little more than the smarty alone.

The Tri before you Buy is a great tool for SOME trucks. Dodge is not one of them. The GM and Ford's work great with a 70 hp tune and the return to buy rate is around 80%. I have done 50 or so Dodges and to be honest you can barely tell the difference in the automatic and ZERO change with the manuals. If you put a Actual Triple Dog in there you have a much better chance of selling the customer on it.

I guess the title should have read NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE TRY BEFORE YOU BUY VERSION OF THE BULLY DOG. My bad.
I agree with you on BULLY DOG being ONE of the best out there but so is EDGE and they haven't left me truckless (yet) so for now ill stick with the J/A.

I love my bully dog. I get the most power out of it and zero codes. By far the best out their imo. After I give guys a ride in my truck they buy the bully dog...
