Warranty in regards to aftermarket turbo
Buddy of mine is trying to make up my mind what to do, he is on his 3rd factory replacement turbo. The service department tell him only rebuilts can get put back in. Hes tired of dealing with the BS, and wants to know if he were to install an aftermarket turbo, would that void his warranty on his lift pump, injectors and so on. This is on a completely stock truck.

All the turbo's that were put on were re-man, each blew up going under 30 mph with about 8 psi of boost. Dealer is confused as well, we will see how long the one that got put on today lasts.

Tell buddy to check out piers diesel for a replacement turbo that matches the stock one appearance wise! A little different on the inside though. If he is serious check it out.

Something is drastically wrong. I would be worried about spending a bunch of money on an aftermarket turbo just to have it go. Didn't the dealership tear down the turbos to see what failed?

i agree, the cause needs to be determined! maybe oil passage is blocked so an aftermarket turbo won't do squat...just end up with the same result as the stock turbo but without the warranty.
