Wanting to run two inline push pumps
Question is: I have two carter pumps and can I run both of them on the stock wiring harness or do I nede to run one off the stock harness and the other off a battery with a relay, what would be the best way to do this so they both come on with the ignition?

I run two... the stock one in the stock location fired by the stock harness, and a Holley Blue behind it wired through a relay that is triggered by the signal from the stock harness. You might be able to run both off the stock harness, but the stock wire is pretty small... 18 gauge if I remember right. I generally use the liftpump pigtail from Cummins as a spacer between the stock plugs so I can solder everything together off the truck and then just plug it in.

Yeah, I go right through the stocker. The blue has been pushing into it for 9 months now and hasn't faltered a lick. With the cold weather I'm seeing almost 28psi at idle and it drops to about 14 at WOT. Cruise pressures are generally 24-25 psi.

I just have a 30A relay I got from the tech at the local Dodge dealership. I belieive it's a headlight relay that he had laying around. I've had it since I put a pusher on my '01. I installed a pump on another guy's (Goodys1ton) truck using the painless wiring relay that he got through summit. You should be able to get a regular 4 post 20A or 30A relay from any auto parts store though.

I'm stock coming out of the tank and forward until the stock line comes out from behind the tank... basically just rear of the transmission crossmember. From there I used a hard tube adapter to convert to -6AN Stainless braided lines. I went from there to the blue, from the blue to the stock LP, and from the filter canister to the CP3. I have a parts list of all the necessary fittings if you guys are interested.

It doesn't matter as long as the pump doesn't pull more current than the relay is rated for. On a stock type carter or the Holleys you'll be just fine with a 20A relay as they will only pull 3-5 amps. Big pumps, like the PEs I used to run, would pull a ton. It is a good practice to install a fuse on the battery positive side of the relay to protect the relay itself as well as the wires from too much current draw. Again on my '01, I had the 30A relay and had a problem with the PE pumps blowing 25A fuses! For that pump, though, a 20A will be sufficient.
