If you change the backspacing/offset so they stick out more you will be putting more stress on that unit bearing that it was not designed to take. Remember the inner and outer bearings are only about 1/4 inch apart.

My main reason for this thread was not to have the tires and rims to stick out. Mainly to prevent the paint from getting damaged but you make and interesting point. However if referring to the front bearings I have EMS locking hubs, so would this still apply?

In theory you are right, but the offset difference is minimal. Mine got changed because I wanted the Dynatrac setup, not because of failure, and that was after about 110,000 miles of running with H2s. Many have had the hubs fail with stock wheels in less mileage.

If you want new wheels go for it. If the truck can't take that little difference, fix it with a better design.

I changed mine because The u-joints were bad, and the bearings showed signs of wearing, plus it was a pain to get them off before someone here figured out an easier way than a big hammer.

Does anyone know the backspacing on Weld evo Cheyenne rims that are 17?
