Walrbo pump/in-tank lift pump removal..?

I'm going to be installing my Walbro as soon as time allows. I'm probably goingto remove the in-tank pump. My question is, if I replace in-tank with a 3/8" fuel line, what should I use? I read somewhere that a regular rubber fuel line would turn to mush if installed in a tank exposed to diesel on all sides. True or BS???

get a high quality fuel line like gates XL series from NAPA. It will hold up to bio-D blends that many states are mandating.

try this

trik396,

If you haven't found out by now, this may help:

http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/

"If you need to put a piece of high pressure hose in your fuel tank, be sure it's rated for in-tank use [SAE J30R10]. Your typical parts store high pressure EFI hose is only rated for outside the tank used [SAE J30R9]. That hose will turn to mush in no time."

BTW, I'm wanting to do something similar so please keep us informed.

I wonder if anyone has removed the in-tank fuel module (2005) and took some good pictures?

Larry
some good pictures

Hasn`t the general consense on this been to buy the 03-04 pick-up that Dodge sells ??? Thought I had read that somewhere.

If you don`t do that, I would go at least 3/8", if not 1/2", judging by what we`re getting out of this Walbro.

Actually after trying to piece together a new pickup, I called Rip and ordered up the pickup assembly they use for the FASS. Easy and cheap.

Why the High pressure Walbro pump?

The Vp 44 and the CP3 only look for volume not pressure. I only have the school of hard knocks to back this up. The way I under stand as long as you can keep at least 10 psi and not more than 22 psi to the injection pump you are good to go.

This extra fuel pressure sounds like another problem.

Something for you to consider.
See ya

I will only have 15psi at the CP3. Never said I was going with high pressure.

Papa Smurf, just do a search for Walbro pumps and you`ll find all the info you`ll ever want to know about why he has chosen to use it.

Sweet, sounds like a better way to go to me. Luckily, I don`t have the intank, so when I do mine, I`ll get to skip that part. Keep me/us updated on your progress trik, I`m hoping the 3rd gen install goes alot smoother than the 2nd gen install I`ve been working on.
