Vulcan Draw Straw V

DrawStraw™V No tank drilling, use OEM connections Now available $29.99

The Draw Straw™V allows customers with in-tank pumps to use an external pump and achieve better fuel flow. This unit is a machined billet aluminum fitting that installs inside the tank module in place of the factory pump and utilizes the 3/8" OEM Dorman connection. No tank drilling required with this mod. Some fitting required.

Adapter assembly to attach 1/2" line to 3/8" Dorman available below.

When used in conjunction with one of our pusher pump kits five feet of additional hose will be required. Tank module not included.

What does everyone think about this?

I have an AD 150 waiting to be installed.......and this looks like it would really simplify installation.

Seems like a good idea. I wonder why they don't just go right to 1/2" out of their billet aluminum fitting. Why restrict to 3/8"?

That is the only thing holding me back from buying one.....it seems to me like it is also a 3/8" kit.....the AirDog 150 needs a 1/2 line

I just wonder what this means: "Adapter assembly to attach 1/2" line to 3/8" Dorman available below."

"1/2 to 3/8 Dorman adapter assembly [Add $11.00]"

Is this just so the 1/2" line can attach to the fitting?

Seems like a well thought out plan, but the 3/8" size is not adding up

Shoot Vulcan an e-mail or give them a call. It looks like they have been creating good products as soon as they see a need for it. I bet the 1/2" adapter was an afterthought. Once they see the need, they just might start creating them! What they should've done was create a billet pickup with a 1/2" fitting then add an optional 3/8" adapter for people needing the small one.

Or, you could always disassemble the stock pickup at the bottom of the canister and attach your own 1/2" fitting to it. Or give Mark (aka 53Willys) a shout. I know he's made a few of these and they look VERY good. He has the complete modified canister ready to drop in!

If you want something to install with your AD and not worry about 1/4 tank issues this is it, I dont have 1/4 tank problems, but if I change my fuel system out I going to run this.

That is an excellent idea, except for as was mentioned, possibly serious off-roaders.

Agreed, but I don't care. My vessel is a boulevard cruiser. These trucks don't stand much of a chance even when heavily modified when trying to navigate the trails I am interested in. Serious offroad and Dodge CTD are kind of a contradiction in terms in my biased-prejudiced opinion.

I blew up the Vulcan thing, it uses the factory 3/8" plastic part of the canister and if you listen to AD you shouldn't use that with the 150.

I also wouldn't like to have that sump hanging off the bottom of my tank.

If you knock that off, off-roading you need to not be going on that trail it hangs down 2", you'd be stuck a lot before you touch that thing.
