I like the Holset method better with a varying nozzle area and not the moving vane system like the Garret. I believe the Banks Dakota truck is using the Holset turbo....

I'm not just an ats junkie, the only ats part i have on my truck is the tranny, bullydog tuning, brighton radiator exhuast, autometer guages, but having watched my brother spend alot of money on banks stuff for a very small gain turned me against their product line

I sure hope Banks has done their homework and RD on this thing. The 6.joke VGT turbo gets "sticky" form soot in about 5-6 months of regular driving...The guys that USE their trucks EVERYDAY towing cars, campers, or whatever day in and day out generally have no issues with their turbos getting "sticky". The guy that drives their truck back and fourth from the office or to the job site day in and day out, not working it, not getting the EGT's where the VGT was designed to operate Are having issues. I hope the Cummins get it's EGT's high enough on a regular bassis to keep the veins clean and free from getting"sticky" . I heard the 6,7 is getting a VGT turbo aswell...Well a friend of mine has 32k on his 04 PSD and is on his third turbo. He drives it back and fourth to work everyday and to the mountains about 20 times a year. He tows a camper and four wheelers on weekends and trips but not everyday to the office. He isn't getting the turbo gasses hot enough to completely burn all the fuel and the soot clogs up the veins and they get stuck. He has been lucky to only have issues with the turbo blowing up from high boost, and this is a 100% stock truck. Some guys are blowing head gaskets from this.
Basically the 6.joke runs to cool to have a VGT turbo on it.

Just go twins and be done with it! Heck, it's gonna be about the same price!

Brent.

Surely someone has tried this,....

I've always thought the ultimate twins would be using a VGT for the small turbo. Has anyone ever run one in a twins setup??

Nathan's duramax twin setup relies on the stock variable vane turbo compounded with his large custom turbo.
