Anyone doing this? I haven't heard of it but I have someone telling me it will flow a lot more than a stock 3rd gen unit.....

I'm all about really cheap and easy upgrades. You won't see me breaking the bank like I've done in the past though.....

The inlet portion of the 2nd gen horn is at a different angle than the 3rd gen horns. You can cut the heads of both and weld the 3rd gen tail to the 2nd gen head to get the right angle. The 2nd gen horn will go on the truck, but the offset likely upsets the flow as much as the neck down in the 3rd gen heads.

The guy is telling me that the 2nd gen manifold will flow 1/3 more air. I don't know. I've never read of anyone doing this. Maybe it's the next big mod we will all be doing soon.......

Really the only thing a 2nd gen manifold will do for you is sound.
Actually makes the exhaust sound like a 24v exhaust note, instead of the ricerish 3rd gen tone...(in the lower rpms)
There are a few threads on what all is involved as well as a couple of videos of how it sounds on Cumminsforum....

Wink

I'm running the 2nd Gen intakes on my both my trucks. Nice upgrade that is a direct bolt on. You will need the 2 long bolts from the second gen also. When you look at the 2 intakes side by side it's a real eye opener.

Sure have, its only a mild gain though. Looking at them next to each other is unreal. Cummins really cut down flow on the 3rd gens.

Well, this guy is looking to sell a manifold at a pretty good price. So I guess I need to tell him I only want it if it comes with the two longer bolts....
