I met a guy with an 03 that has a bully dog for sale. He said it was in the truck when he bought it but he never used it. He ended up changing the engine to a 12V in the 03 truck so now he is selling the stuff that won't work for the "new" engine. Will the bully dog just plug into mine and work? Or do I have to get it to sync up with my VIN or something. Will it have to be sent back to get reflashed?
Any way to check it and see if it is any good before I buy it?

Just plug it in to your truck and it will tell you it is vin locked and won't let you download any tunes. If it were on a truck and not totally set back to stock, even tire size adjustment it will stay locked to that truck. If you have to send it in for a flash I believe it is $100. So just plug it in with your key on and read the screen and it will walk you thru the setup. I've seen some triple dogs for $300-400 so before used. I'm just assuming that it's a triple dog and not a power pup or torque dog.

 

XXX222. What model is it?? If not a pmt, you need gauges to monitor egt's at the very least before playing with it.
