Upgrade Cam before Turbo?

Upgrade Cam before Turbo?
I'm ultimately going to get both an H2 cam (and springs) and either a Silver 62, or a SPS6280; however, with the stock turbo, would the cam upgrade done first:
Or, overall, is the turbo upgrade going to improve these factors enough that it should be done first?
- add much power?
- decrease EGTs?
- spool the turbo any sooner?
Or, overall, is the turbo upgrade going to improve these factors enough that it should be done first?

Tony,
I would recommend the cam and springs from Don to anyone wanting to upgrade their truck.
The modification is often overlooked but ask anyone who runs a cam if they would do it again and the answer is always yes.
I would do a Helix 2 and Springs again in a hearbeat.

I was thinking I would work on the engine internals before going to a larger turbo. Don's Helix 2 cam and springs are definitely the way to go.
I don't really expect a cam to add much power, but keeping the EGTs down at WOT or while towing would be good.

Ive been reading the cam debate on the Competition Diesel site, good read. But somewhere in that huge thread it said springs are a good investment even without a cam. Wish I could get you direct quotes but I am far to lazy to shuffle thru the whole thing again. Check it out.

Thanks Rye, and don't worry about quotes. I can do the research, just like to throw out the idea before I waste too much time if its a no go.

lower torque peak, better MPG
I've heard from TDR that the PDR cams will give you maybe 2 MPG increase and also lower the max torque peak something like 300 or 400 RPM. Of course you get better EGT's and driveability too. Stock cams are good for emissions, though!
