If you don't have a bulit tranny do not run low end torque!!!!! Had all kinds of tranny trouble with it on (2 VB & 1 TC) in 4 months, took it off and have had no troubles for about a year. I think the new 2.3.9 is the same as 2.3.8 the new one is just an update for the Duracrap. Also you can't get the crazy larry setup on 2.3.9.

I tried the low end power option with a stock tranny on the performance mode and slipped it bad, it was like I free revved it, I let out and got back in it and it did it again. The next day I ordered my shift kit and I haven't slipped mine since. But I don't like the dead pedal feel after about 1/3 throttle, it has no more power.

All I can say is back it up with numbers. I think you might be surprised with real world numbers. Oh and we run close to the same set up and if you can average 26 mpg on a tank of fuel then you have one hell of a truck.

mrschendel, did your brother try to run it on a stock tranny?

I got rid of the smarty and picked up the bullydog since the smarty was doing something weird with the line pressure on my Goerend valve body. I've loved the Bullydog so far, but I'm second guessing the switch now that Smarty is coming out with their new program!
My brother had a stock tranny. He is going to up grade it soon.
