Two Kills tonite:) And the FASS is leaking again

Well a Subaru Impreza tried to run me tonite from a 45mph rollin start with boost built up..... after he finally caught up at the next light he just kinda gave me a holly crap look before he turned off. The dodge neon (I know not a fast car but still) he tried passin on the right...which for all you know is the side the exhaust is on....and Im sure yall know what that means Anyway he was headed on base to the same hotel I was stayin at, he gets out and says man your running one beast of a truck! Didnt have the heart to tell him I only had the J/A on level 2 But his comment made my night.

However on a more serious note my FASS is leaking once again at the junction between the fitting and the CP3. I kept tightening it then tried a new O ring..didnt work. Then remembered i forgot to oil it so I put a new o ring on and oiled it, stopped leaking . Well tonight I get out of applebees and low and behold theres a small puddle of diesel underneath the left front...pop the hood and of course the top of the CP3 is covered in diesel..... Any suggestions from anybody? I would really hate to put thread sealant on a line leading into the CP3 but if thats what its gonna take its the only alternative I see. Regular #2 Diesel doesn't need a special O ring does it?

Be careful of those Neon SRT-4's. My wife had one and they're screamers.

Remember, it's a beast of a truck stock. Man I love my truck.

Other than that I don't know much about the FASS. I'd call the company and see if they can help out or wait for someone with more experience than me take that one.

Yeah, there's a couple of them running around here that run 12.10 - 12.50 every week at the track.

you might be able to get a slightly larger O-ring. Check with NAPA or about any diesel shop.

Minimal amount. If you try to go too much bigger it'll pinch or split. Mic it and go from there.

If the O ring keeps leaking there might be something in the area where the o ring seats. Is the O ring cut or flat in one area? I always put a very light coat of grease on O rings to help them seat when installing.

They make different thickness and hardness(can't thick of the right word) orings. I'm unfamiliar with the fitting you're refering to, but can you see all the way around the fitting once you have it tight to make sure the oring isn't pushing out just a little? If that is the case you might need a slightly thinner or harder oring. What did the one you removed look like? Thread sealent shouldn't have any effect on this type of thread.

Your problem may be fixed easyer with using a Vitron o Ring insted of buna, there are big differnces expecialy in what theys stand up to. The Vitron is harder and stands up to oils grease and gas, buna gets soft when exposed to Diesel fuel and dose exactly what your describing. Get a gauge for orings, then order the right dash number (thats the o ring size) in Vitron, your problem will be fixed. Mcmaster carr has them

BigDave is refering to the Buna rateing and Vitron is better as just stated.

Its just a threaded 1/2(forgive me if im wrong) fitting that goes into the CP3. The machine work on the fitting sucks and i am partially tempted to make my own. However there is also a washer that supposedly goes between the the fitting and the CP3. I am thinking that maybe the oring just isn't getting squished enough with that washer in there. However it did stop leaking for a couple of weeks after I put the new oiled O Ring on it. When i got back home tonite it was dark so I didn't look at it. Ill report back tomorrow with the findings. However the ones I have replaced looked perfectly fine.

Durometer is the hardness rating of an oring, VITON or BUNA. Viton usually has more chemical resistance than Buna.

We have seen some of these fitting on some trucks cause fits. I will send a new DIPF-1001 to ya if you want one. Have your dealer contact me with your SN and shipping info and you will have one in the mail.

O yeah:

NEVER, EVER USE THREAD SEALANT ON A COMPRESSION FITTING OR A FITTING THAT USES AN O-RING TO SEAL!!!!!!
