Turning the key...NO Speed limiter?

How many of you have tried the turn the key forward trick to turn the speed limiter off? I have always heard about it, then did it the other day. Truck was cutting off at 110, turned the key to the start position and held it. All gauges and radio will go off. When I let the key back to normal position, the speedo was dropping off 120. Is there any side effects of doing this. I know that the starter will not engage.

By the way I know that going that fast is dangerous to me and others on the road. I did it on a straight FM road with no other cars around. I also know that it tires are not safe at those speeds.

Neah, I just use the bulldydog to up the speed limiter to 200mph, then I never have to worry about it Other programmers will probably have this feature pretty soon.

yea, but some of us suffered electrical problems after that. Do that mod at your own risk...and don't complain when something goes wrong, cause it has before!

Yea I was not planning on doing that. I was just seeing if anyone else just rolls the key forward. I will just do that until the Smarty will take the speed limiter off.

We have tried the roll the key deal on my 03 and 07 and i wouldnt do anything but on my 03 if i had a programer on extreme and the sp diesel box on had to be on atleast level one didnt matter which and the cruise control button activated but not on cruise it would pull all the way to 120 easy. P.S. I had the truck for over a year and a half before i realized that one night coming home from the track messing with my buddy on 59 from an 80mph roll and took him every time lol. O and if you do the abs tap deal make sure you tape over the wires you used a test light on LOL sorry phil I had to do it ecm's and water dont mix well together.

if u find the thread on the abs wire thing dont run the wire to ground just put an inline switch between the wire u cut.it works well, but what freaks me out is that its that easy to disable the odometer and then clear the code and sell a truck with many more miles on than it shows,

So the speedo is still accurate after rolling the key?

Any G56 guys try it?

I think at 112 I am turnin about 3500 so I dont know if this would benefit me or not.

The speedo goes out when you turn the key....when you release it indicates your speed at that time...WAP....rpms are your problem....doesn't normally help that but you can try.....Kerry
