turbo or water/meth?
My brother and I have been talking about towing egt's and it got me to wondering. If I were to make one purchase for my truck, would it make more sense to get a turbo or a water/meth system? I'm curious to here opinions and experiences of others as far as egt's, power and driveability. Fire away!

Being as you run a heavy duration box such as the Edge your best beat is to sell the Edge and run something else. To me water/meth will just be a bandaid. More air will be better with a bigger turbo but, you still have the heavy fueling of box and you will still have issues. I would recommend a Smarty and a turbo to help keep EGT's in check.

I agree.
I tried w/m as a bandaid, it did not work. I am still paying for it to this day.
I think water injection is a great thing for certain places. Towing uphill is one of them... not towing on a flat stretch.
The smarty curbed the majority of my EGT problems.

Running basically stock and towing heavy, my EGT's have been too high for my likeing . . I have a Smarty Jr, use it on tow mode, it DID tame down the EGT's a lot.
I am going with a larger turbo first, in fact, just received it and it is on my list of things to do tomorrow. I tow a lot in the mountains, if need be I will go with w/m, but I think the new turbo will go a long way to solving the EGT's even more.

Another vote for a turbo...
I have no experiance with w/m but i do know high egts before my turbo I was runing just smarty s-06 sw9 and I was playing in the 1600 range without trying hard and prob higher since i would peg my 1600 egt gage before i ran out of gears. I picked up a turbo and upgraded to TNT sw9 and i cant get it over 1400 no mater how hard i try.
But some people say my driving style is extream and even crazy.

I am going to say it depends on your budget. I like the water (no meth) injection option and it does work where I tow in the mountains of Idaho. It can be had cheaper and is effective. That said I am now thinking about a turbo. I do a mod a year and this summer looks like turbo time.

Well, I do live in the mountains, and when I mention towing, that means up big hills. I tried my brother's smarty once (empty, not towing) and could only see maybe 100* drop in egt's. Are you guys suggesting that when towing, it would make more difference?
