Unhappy turbo trouble????

not to my better judgement i let a friend sorta test drive my truck yesterday and apparently he thought it would be cool to romp on my truck and rag it out for a little while . Before i knew it he had my rpms to almost 4 and my truck kinda shuttered a little when he let off. i didn't think to much about it and i don't even know if it caused it but today my turbos acting different and im a little worried about it cuz its running all the way to 43 psi and it makes a high pitch screecing noise at about 40 until my boost goes back down. i guess he'll never drive my truck again but about my turbo, why is it doing that, or is it even my turbo thats the problem?

i sure as hell don't know whats going on and just needed a little help from someone more knowlegeable than myself, which includes a lot of people im sure.

A stock turbo should NEVER see 40psi! I don't understand why guys are spinning stock turbos, which wastegate at 31psi from the factory, to 40psi+ and then wonder why they break the turbo.

It damaged the turbo going to 43psi+. It is shot and will eventually fail. The bearings in the turbo is what is causing that noise. Time to buy another turbo.

Sounds like my turbo. It sees 40+ lbs regularly.

I have had a stock turbo up to 50lbs....

Keep it under the 40psi area and you should be ok.

Dont let friends drive your truck.....

Stock turbos can handle 40psi, within reason. It is not necessarily the boost so much, it is the boost @ Egts. The high RPM of the wheel and high EGTs eat bearings like crazy.

If it keeps it cool, your cool

How did he get it to rev to 4k?

point taken. i guess i had to learn that the hard way though. And i Have no idea how he got it to 4 cuz i never could. It usualy doesn't get over 32 psi if im in lower gears 2-4 but in 5th and 6th if i lay into it for a while it will jump all the way past 40. guess i need to start saying a little cash and try and make this turbo last as long as it can. LOL maybe its gods way of saying he wants my truck to have a new aftermarket turbo.
