Turbo Experts!!!! Top turbo to spool aurora 5K!!!
Allright fellas I have known all along when I bought the Aurora 5K I was going to turn it into a set of twins. My question is after talking to some good turbo people that the 5k is about max and it's goona get big numbers.. I believe Timvia has one one his 06 and put of 700+.
My question is I kept my stock turbo just because if I ever get stupid and sell the truck I'm goona strip all the go fast parts off but can I get the piping and set the stock turbo on top? I know I aint going to get any more hp or very little I am just thinking that if I can help this beast spool quicker!! And since the stocker is just sitting it is too big for a desk paper weight??
So give it to me and let me know what cha think.. Am I wasting my money and time?
Shane

Yep...
IF you want to do it...after your tranny is done..fuel system...cp3 etc.
62/12 or 13 with the exhaust housing you have now on the A5k...maybe a 64/13 or 14 if you get the larger exhaust housing.
ATS has the "upgrade to twins kit" for 2.5-3k. They have A2k/A3k's to go with. You should consider that.

If you don't go with the smaller Aurora turbo, I would check with one of the twin builders that use the stock turbo in their twins, such as Piers Diesel or Relentless.
Check out both of these threads, A5K & HT3B and Nasty Nine Turbo.

If your gonna stick a turbo on top then you will probably need a larger turbine housing for the Aurora 5k. Like a larger one as in the size that comes with the Industrial twins...IE K31 housing.

You'd be better off selling the A5K and buying a K31. They are cheaper even though they are the same less the exhaust housing. A S400/B2 is even cheaper and would still out spool (in twins) the A5K as a single. I ran the stocker/B2 combo for 2 years without regrets. It spools fast, makes good power, and tows awesome. A stock trans will hate it though. With stock sticks and stock cp3 and the stocker/B2 combo I ran 12.89 @ 105 without any weight reduction. With a modded pump and big sticks I went 12.54 @ 102 on the brakes. Later I ran it all out with a poor launch and went 109mph. So I scrubbed about 7mph on the 12.54 run. Max egt's were under 1400*. It's a cheap combo that works well for the average person.
