Which Turbo???

Hey I just came into some money after selling some stuff that was just lying around uneeded. So now I have the funds to go ahead and buy and upgrade my turbo.

With the mods I have, I was dynoed last week at 500+hp, and even though the stock turbo is doing fine, there is alot of unburned fuel trailing behind me duing a "WOT" run. Which meens I have a lot of untapped power to gain from a better flowing turbo.

I have talked to most of the big vendors, and have narrowed my selection down to just TWO!!!. I need to know which would be the best (in order of importance) for all around daily driving, towing, performance, and occasional racing. Any disatvantges to either? Let me know what you guys think.

II-SPS/62 OR HTT-62/14

I installed the SPS 62 and have no regrets, thing thing spools very quick, and runs just as well with my fueling boxes turned off, runs like stock and will still make 37 psi boost.

With the boxes on boost comes up very smooth.

I know it is a lot more, but have you thought about the Silver Bullet from Industrial Injection?

Hey Rick, you have nearly the same power as I do, and was wondering what kind of boost u see during normal highway/city driving, and the egt's you see with your fueling boxes both off and on. Thanx for all the votes guys.

70 mph flat cruise i'm making 3-4 psi 600 - 650 degf , 1100 degf is all i've seen with tst on 4x4 and va on low. cruising egts were the same box on or off, i did'nt pay any attention at top end egts with fuel off, i'll check tomarrow on the way to work.

just for comparison, tst on 4x4 no va with the stock turbo would hit 1400 plus before i hit 80 mph, the egt gage was quicker than the tach.

OK cool!!! If anyone was wondering, the dyno #'s i put down were 513hp/990tq on the stock turbo. By the way, what settings did you make those dyno #'s on?

Ok a wide open run tst and va off, 50 mph to 85 mph was just shy of 1000 degf 37 psi.
The same run with tst on 3x3 and va on low, by the time i hit 85-90 egts where less than 1000 degf 45 psi.

Sounds great, and it looks like my mind is pretty much made up, seeing as how an overwhelming majority voted for the SPS62. Rick, have you done any sustained WOT runs like a full 1/4mi. or anything? Just wondering. Anybody else running this turbo and has input, please speek up.

I just put a SPS 66 on and so far I think it is a great turbo. I just got on it for the first time yesterday and pegged 57psi. With the power you are running, I think a 62 is a little small and I would suggest a SPS66.

Well, I thought about that and considered a 64, but Industrial and High Tech both reccomended the 62 turbos for my app., cause I still tow a good bit, and it's my daily driver and quick spool-up is a requirement for me. They both said the only thing I would be sacrificing is a little power and slightly higher egt's on the upper end. What I gain, is better driveabilty and lower egt's while cruising and towing with the boxes turned down, due to the faster turbine speeds.
