Cool tst- early twins or standard?

I think santa (aka-myself) might be gettin me a new toy for christmas. I've already decided i for sure want the tst but im not sure what would be the best program for what i have. I really want to have the early twins program but i thought it might be to hot and besides i still have the stock turbo. i think thats just me being immature and wanting to much smoke . maybe i could settle inbetween and get the late twins??? any opinions as far as how it should run with a stock turbo and a twins program. thanks guys

The latest TST PowerMaxCR units come with all programs available on the unit. Econo, Standard, Early 03 Twins and Late 05 Twins can be selected on the remote. Also a number of other great options with the R49, adjustable timing, Turbo Cool Down timer, Fuel Pressure option. It is IMO the best performance mod made for our trucks now.

I second what Ramwheels said, and if I could get an older model (serial number under 5000) used one for 500 bucks I would still wait and save if I had to just to get the newest R49, it is worth every penny. Your truck is very similar to mine and I can tell you your turbo will not last long on early twins. IMO I think once I get my clutch in I will run late twins but right now if I got to hammer down and I turn the power up to say 5/1 on TT05 once it hits about 20-24 psi the clutch will not hold. TT03 is also almost undriveable on my turck with the stock turbo cause it hits so hard at 12 psi that that the boost guage is hittin 50lbs and your tach is redlined before you can even blink.

FWIW I drive my truck on standard 3/1 mp8 off, and I can tow in this or sometimes I turn the mp8 on about 20% and the tst on 3/2 and I can still tow with it. I can make my clutch hold on around 5/2 no mp8 but I have also slipped it on 4/1 hittin 5th hard both on standard program.

I've tried the early twins program when I had a HTB2 62/12. It got way to hot, way to fast. Yea, it lit it quickly but I couldn't get higher then level 3/2.

One thing that was a positive was towing. Because you're always got some post going when you're towing down the freeway it was adding full fuel. Hit the grades and it was there. Even my wife commented it towed better. But drivability on the street it was to much. I sent it back and had it put back to the standard.

And yes the smoke rolled. But useless if you're not making power and all it's doing is getting hot. It's WAY to much for a stock turbo.

FYI all of the R49s can be upgraded with all options except the Rail Pressure. The serial number needs to be over 5000 for that option only. My TST PMCR is one of the first R49s sold, serial number 3047 or something like that. I sent it in and had it upgraded, I have everything but the Rail Pressure option. No big deal for me since I already have a pressure box and Rail Pressure gauge.

If you can find on for $500 and upgrade you will come out a few hundred dollars ahead and have a great box.

well i was trying to decide on buying the ats auora 2000 to replace the stocker. surely i can run the late twins program when that comes in right, and untill then i can keep it on standard program and try to use some control. but as far as the models of pmcr, your saying i need to try and find an older one below the 5000 num. and then send it in for an upgrade?? one more ? thought, i was planning on just buying the r35

sorry, on that last question i meant say i was only planning on buying the r37 because i thought the only big difference was the with/without gauges part? so i guess im asking about the comparison between the r49 and r37 models
