Trying to fit 17" custom wheels
I lifted my 2003 Ram 2500 4X4 CTD with 5" Fabtech kit to make room for 17X10 Eagle Alloys Series 195 wheels and 35" Trxxus M/T tires. The wheels do not fit over the calipers. I have read on other postings that some are running Eagle Alloy Series 102, 114, or 143 wheels. According to the catalogue, these wheels aren't for the Dodge either. Is there a caliper modification that can be done safely? Have others run into this problem? I need help!

I think you will have to do one of two things.... Either a larger wheel or a different kind of wheel with a different backspacing. I ran into the same problem trying to put my old wheels off of a 97 chevy onto my dads 99 chevy. They fit on but wouldn't turn. I crawled unde it and found that they were rubbing on the calipers. We ended up just leaving the stock 99 wheels on it and selling my 97 wheels. You might look into returning yours or just selling them outright if they can't be returned... Good luck and let us all know what happens.... and DO NOT modify the caliper that is what is stopping your whole rig If you grind it down it could weaken it and break under hard braking and loose your brakes... not good..

You need forged rims as opposed to cast rims.
Cast rims are too thick, and IMHO shouldn't be on a Diesel truck to begin with.
Material is too brittle and is easily cracked by the weight of the front end.
Forged rims are much stronger, and thinner so they should fit.
Or if you are sold on using Cast rims, you'll need to go a size bigger to get them to fit, I.E. 18" rims.

That was one of my main concerns, lots out there (that won't fit our application) and wanting our money anyways. The guys at Discount Tire really did a great job and one heck of a deal. I took the Helo's and really was skeptical when they got them. I was very surprised and kept them. Don't stick out much more than stock and I already had the flares on so I couldn't REALLY see much of a difference. Mine are 17X9 and clear the calipers just fine.

Thanks for all of your help. They are willing to take the wheels back, so I will pursue other options. This is a great website! I have learned more about my truck in the last few days than I have in the last two years.

I had the same problem with the first set of 17" wheels we tried to put on my '04 with my 35" Trxus (BTW I only got 15K out of them ) Les Schwab specifically asked if they fit the new trucks and were told they did Had to find a different wheel - MKW19 17 x 8.5 only 4.5" backspacing. Trading them back in tomorrow and putting 35 x 12.5 x 17 Toyo M/T on the stock alloys.

That is a **** nice looking truck ryans05. I am debating on 37s, but I'm going to see how the 315s work out first. They are almost gone now, but I've got 5000 or so miles to decide....

wheel by eagle with backspacing more than 4-5/8" will not fit, need to do a 17x9" with proper backspace, I ran into the same trouble with my truck, and that solved it.
