RP sensor is still my vote.......
I too am thinking that. Like I said a sec ago. I know the gauge is not the problem since it does it unhooked also and my gauge runs fine. Has the quad rp gauge ever caused a sensor to go bad??

With the truck running with my quad rp gauge hooked up. If I unhook the FCA and the RP shoots up to 26k. That will tell me which sensor is good?

I read somewhere when I searched for bad FPS. That if my quad gauge is hooked up to the FPS and is reading correctly then the FPS is good? Can anyone verify that???

That seems to be a common tool for fixing the quad stuff these days. It sucks cause his customer service used to be a marvel.

Not to Hi-jack, but this is helping me with RP probs I am having as well.

So If I get this right, if you disconnect the FCA it will automatically cause the CP3 to deliver max fuel always???

I am trying to follow this because since I have put my truck back together the only thing that changed beside the long block was my injectors and now I cannot get even 22k RP. trying to decide if it is my RP sensor or a partially working CP3.

I don't mind buying a new FCA or FPS if it went bad. I just don't see how my quad rp gauge could of caused my FPS to go out because its working perfect no problems and it does it with out without the gauge hooked up. So I think my FPS or FCA was on its last leg and finally went out. I just need to know how to eliminate which it is

Take the fca out and shake it. The two I've seen go bad did not rattle, because the valve inside stuck, which is how it fails. ( the valve sticks and it can't meter the fuel to the cp3 properly) It should take like 10 minutes and you'll be able to eliminate the fca that way.

ok hooked my quad rp gauge back up...when i cranked the truck the gauge just read zero... I know the gauge is good though. But either way the truck does it with out without the gauge hooked up. does that mean the rp sensor is bad??
