Truck cap / spray in liner
Howdy,
Looking for some advice... I am ordering a Leer cap 100XQ for the mega cab and was going to get a spray in liner too...
My question is, if I get the liner sprayed above the rail, will it show when the cap is on ??? Or is their enough overhang/contour of the cap to hide it?
If I get the spray in below the rail, I was wondering if I would end up scratching the top rail when I remove/re install the cap over the summer months as I will end up taking it off every so often to haul stuff...
Help.
Also, I have had a Line-X liner before on my Ford and served me well, other than it fading pretty bad. I dont really like Rhino, is there any other ones people recommend ???
CHEERS!

Yeah, I know the spray in liner shop will spray where ever I tell them, I was just wondering if the cap does indeed cover that area completely if it is sprayed ( I never owned a Leer cap before and was hoping someone knew for sure).
3500lly - yeah its a clamp on.
Keep the info flowing !

I have black Line-X and brilliant black cap and truck.. I had them spray the over the top rail just a tad over the top edge radius. If you look hard you notice it other wise it's mostly invisible. 1/4" over/past the radius. Looks like a shadow of the cap edge

Roof....I have the 100xq on mine. If your truck is not black and you go over the rail with the liner it will show from the outside. With this shell there is no reason to go over the rail because the inside lip of the shell itself sits inside the frame rail of the truck. You can't even see it, it's covered. I'll try to take a pic and show ya.

If you get LINE-X with Xtra or Ultra Shield, you won't have fading problems. If you decide to get a bedliner over the rails, the dealer can put the edge anywhere you want it.
Here's LINE-X with black Xtra. It resists fading and loss of gloss:

Nice looking job... how much extra is it for the fading protection, etc ?
I am going to shop around my area and see the price difference.
My buddy has what I think is called "dura flex" ??? It appears to be more rubbery than the line X, but his has held up great and he abuses the bed alot with heavy objects/rocks, etc...
Cheers!

Here is a picture of the gap between my Leer 100XL topper and the bed rail. As long as you stay on the flat top of the rail and don't go over the edge, it shoud not be too visible, but you could still see it.
My last truck, I went over the edge and you could just see the edge. On this one, I did not go over the edge. keep in mind the spray in liner will lift the topper 1-2mm and enlarge the gap between the topper and bed rail.

The more I think about it... I may just do under the rail spray in liner.... I'll take extra care installing / removing the cap during the summer... Since my truck is mineral grey, I dont want to increase the space nor do I want a different color sneaking out between the cap and the bed... going for the SUV look with the 100 XQ.
Thanks guys for the pics / info. I'll probally order the cap this week.
Cheers!
