Transmission Upgrade Advice

I am considering an ATS transmission upgrade. I will be towing about 15000#. Do I need the TC, Valve Body or would the whole transmission rebuild be neccessary? Any advice will be appreciated.

Since I live 20 miles from ATS out here in Colorado, I'm taking
mine to ATS. I'm waiting another 2 months then its going in for
ATS tow valve body, Commander TC controller, and a Pacbrake EB.

These mods do not reuire the trans be pulled out. If you go
with a ATS triple lock TC that will require the trans be pulled
out. I would go with the ATS valve body, ATS triple lock TC and
there TC controller for the Pacbrake EB for your tow weights.

Just my 2 cents

Guys,
He didnt ask which brand he should go with!

Looks like he has already decided on ATS.
Which is a great decision in my opinion!!

KW,
I would get the Triplelok converter, ATS valve body, and ATS lockup commander along with an Exhaust brake.
The commander will allow you lock-up your torque converter at will.
15-70mph lock-up at your control.
It also works in conjuction with the exhaust brake to keep your converter locked and help get you slowed down.

If you have run your truck hard with that EZ, then you might consider the rebuild.

k w:

I agree 100% with what Justin (Pourin Diesel) has already
told you. I also have the ATS Stage IV TripleLok in both my
96' Dodge 12 valve and my 2002. You can refer to my
"signature" to see how the trucks are set-up. The ATS
transmission in my 96' now has over 75,000 hard miles
on it of which alot of it was done towing my racing
trailer and farm tractor.

If I were you towing the weight you listed I would go
with the "complete" unit, including: TripleLok Converter,
ATS Valve Body, ATS Commander etc. With the complete
unit you will also get the heavier clutch material and if you
want you can include billet shafts etc.

"k w" I am very happy with my ATS units!! They are tough,
reliable smooth shifting units that are backed by a three (3)
year 100,000 mile warranty. The entire staff at ATS are
great people to deal with!

Good luck!
