How come on these trucks or at least mine if Im doing 70mph or faster and mash the pedal it won't downshift?? I was playing with a dmax on interstate on way home.. 06 with some stuff done to it and we took off from about 80mph and he jumped on me pretty good cause his actually will downshift and mine just stays in gear and goes.. Well I had to reel him in. But still sucks!! AHH I got aggravated fast!

At those speeds it should not downshift. Downshifting takes it out of its power range.

Siily boy, thats what the TH button is for.

For the most part you don't want them to downshift under a heavy load so it will use the TQ to pull instead of hitting the redline and defueling.

When you want out of OD just use the TH and shift back when ready.

plus the 06 dmax has manual shift mode on the allison. he could and more than likely did manually shift it

I was reeling him in.. but he jumped me pretty hard since he could downshift and them things turn more rpms.. I was so mad!! You could def feel the torque of my truck at those speeds..

I was going to hit the TH button but I was scared to since I was running 80mph. I didn't want to rev to hard when I hit the button!
