Which tranny pan and who has the best price?

Okay, I'm going to service the tranny here soon and want to go ahead and get a tranny pan with a drain plug and temp sensor port. Any recommendations? I was thinking PML since they're somewhat reasonably priced. The Mag-Hytech is really nice just expensive. I think the BD Power pan is even more money. Anything under 2 bills worth buying? Added capacity isn't much of a concern to me. Thanks!

Pauly I love my mag-hytec but it's pricey... I believe I paid $325??? Can't remember for sure... I have heard good things about the pml.... Either or you can't go wrong...

Yeah, I'd love the Mag-Hytech but its just too much cash. I'm using my yearly expense account to buy the thing so I really need to pay attention to cost.

So far the PML seems to be the best compromise between price and performance.

If you are not concerned about added capacity, couldn't you just install a drain plug in your existing pan and use the 2 bills for something else?

^^ A good trans pan adds stiffness to the tranny in an area that was completely unsupported before. Added fluid capacity isn't as important.

Well just doing a quick check around you can find the mag pan for 237 plus a $25 off gift card...PML pans are $199 I believe. Now if you want the Double Deep pan you can probably find them for $270 and I believe that same company is also offering a $25 gift card for that pan as well.

I dont have a PML pan so I can't really make any comments about quality, fit & finish, etc. However I do have a Mag DD pan and would highly recommend mag products to anyone.

Either way...~$15 really shouldn't deter you from considering a Mag-Hytech. JMO

Check with Larry at the DTR store.... Send him an PM asking for a price. Just found out he has a LARGE number of products not on the stores page... He priced me a Pacbrake, ATS 2-piece manifold, and an Airdog 100. Very good prices I must say.......

Would love to support DTR as well but if its not up on the stores page I tend to look elsewhere. I wish he'd get at least the Pacbrake up its the next upgrade I want for the truck.

I thought about doing that also, but I want to add a bung for a temp sensor also. I figure by the time I pay someone to do that I could buy a stiffer cast pan with those features already there.

At the time I did my 30k tranny service, a B&M drain plug went into the stock pan. I have never seen more than 190* tranny temp towing or otherwise (measured on the hot side) so just can't see putting the cash into bling I can't even see. No mess on the next service.

Yeah, I don't really care about the "bling" and like you my tranny temps have always stayed in check. I just want a drain plug and bung for a temp sensor. I'm going to call my tranny guy this morning and see what he'd charge to braze these things in the stock pan.

My ATS pan is pretty well thought out, it has an integrated gasket and a drain pan, also double deep
