As mentioned, Cornering and handling are improved. They actually shorten rear spring travel and give more of a sports car feel, IMO. Great for towing and necessary for racing or sled pulling to reduce Spring wrap.
I'm not a fan of short (caltrac) bars on our heavy trucks.
Reports say they are better than nothing but I know no one that went from Caltracs to 60"+ bars .... so we have no comparison reports.
The farther forward the front mounts, the better the stability, IMO. Simple physics. On my 02, they are 66" and bolt, weld or tap/thread into frame.... I love them. Very stout. Also from LazarSmith!

Here are a few pics of mine that I got from Mike (XLR8R) with Lazarsmith. http://www.lazarsmith.com/tractionbars.html
They help stop axle/spring wrap and improve cornering/handling.
Hope that helps.

I know he works nights and sleeps days... and I know that CTD, so I'll answer for him.
Those are the shortish Sled Bars, about 70", and as it says on the web site he listed...
Sled Bars up to 87"
Monster Bars up to 91"

I've heard no welding, drilling, etc. on every generation of CTD. IMO, it's like Dodge saying don't use Fuel Treatments. They have to say that to protect themselves against 'dummies'.
Like Ron White says..."You can fix a lot of human problems, but you can't fix STUPID".
IF done moderately and properly, I see nothing wrong with it. Mine are threaded into frame and have held nicely for 2 yrs/80,000 miles!
I would not hesitate to have them professionally welded on either. JMO.

The hydroformed frames are much stronger than the C-channel types, but either one can be drilled or welded sensibly - we let the customer choose when we install them.
I will say the 2nd Gen frames are much more susceptible to improper weld-mounting if the bars don't reach as far as the tranny tailshaft.

Lazarsmith provides brackets that connect to the bottom of the shock mounts and then to the bars. You can see them in the 2nd pick in my series of pics of the bars.
Also....I meant to say in my prior post......all the bars should work pretty much the same. It is just a matter of choice on length, size etc...depending on the the "look" you want for your truck. A 2wd sleeper may want a different look than a lifted truck with 40's.

Jesse Todd made my set with poison spyder roll cage tubing and 3/4" heim joints front and rear. Been awsome. Welded on both axle and frame (my choice). No more axle wrap at all!
If you look in the traction bar picts youll see a underside pict of a blue dodge with RED bars. Thats my truck. Been on for over a year with 0 problems.
