I had really good luck with Pro Comp MTs on my 01. Had about 35k on them and they still had a little tread on them.

I replaced them with Pro Comp Xtreme MTs and only had about 6k on them before I sold them. Was impressed with the traction. Looked like new but I wish I could of seen how long they would of lasted.

Sounds like Toyo is the consensus. I would kind of like to see what 285/75R17s look with a leveling kit to a 4" lift.

Although, with the Xtreme MTs at $251 puts them $250 cheaper then the Toyos.

Whos running the Mickey Thompson MTZ? They are around $270 a tire.

I love my 295 Toyo MTS, they are the best handling, riding and traction tire I have ever owned. That being said they wear far too fast for me. My first set wore out @ 20,000 miles. I learned from the first set that they need to be rotated EVERY 3,000 miles and proper PSI is a MUST. Les Schwab told me on the first set to run the fronts @ 65PSI and the rears @ 60. Those pressure are too high. I found the best setting to be 55 on the front and 45 on the rear when the truck is unloaded. This second set is wearing much better but I still think they will be shot by 30,000 mi.

My buddy had Toyo's and wore them out on his ford in 30kmiles....I have Cooper S/T's and got 100k miles and they were babies butt smooth once I figured out how to balance them....I took them to three shops to balance and these are nice tire shops...one place had 1/2 pound on two rims and they would vibrate at 70mph...next place called the last place idiots and put 1/2 pound spread over two places and still nothing. Next shop the same....took them to my alignment shop who balances them on the vehicle. They rotated the tires on the rim to be in the proper place...this is indicated by a mark on the rim or indicated on the valve stem, Then they put the rims on the proper position on the hub and with the duals they lined the rims up properly to match the alignment marks... now 2 tires have no weight, 2 have 1 oz and 2 have 2 oz...and the truck has never run smoother up to 122mph.

I went back to the other shops to kindly explain to them that they were idiots....they had no clue what I was talking about.....As is was explained to me...All tires are designed to mount on a certain spot on a rim... and all rims are marked to align with the brake rotor at the factory...the only way to get a tire perfectly balanced is to have it spin balanced on the truck so that the brake rotor and other rotating parts can be taken into consideration.

I'll gladly take those square STT's off your hands for free to unclutter your garage....I'll even pay shipping.

Fill your tires up with nitrogen if you are able. Sure saves wear on your tires and they don't change pressures!!!
