looks like i'll be ordering adjustable control arms from top gun customz on monday as the first step in fixing my case of the rubs. also found a body shop that does minor fender manipulation on new body style rams all the time for very little $$$ for this very issue... **** backspacing!

You're gonna spend all kinds of money on control arms, fender mods and whatever else when the wheel is the problem. With that backspacing you have increase the arc radius the wheel/tire combo swings when you turn so much you need nearly 6" of lift to clear what I cleared at stock height. I suggest you not waste time and money and just replace the wheels.

X2!!!! My B.S. is 5" and something mm off set. Can't remember but it is perfect... Not quite stock but the little rub I do get is liveable... I have only had it do it maybe 3 times since the new tires and wheels...

i think you misunderstood- i am going with adjustable control arms, something i was going to do eventually anyway to move front axle slightly forward to where it should be and can still be used if i decide i want to go bigger with my lift. i was just mentioning the fender work as another option that many have gone with (the body shop said they also do a lot of fender mods on trucks using kore systems). the control arms are $375 while a new set of wheels will be about $800. if i did not have the tires already i might have looked into trading out my wheels for some 18's which have a lot more choices in black with favorable backspacing.

what is the backspacing of your wheels- i may have found a smoking deal on some black 17x8.5's with 5" or 5.375" of backspacing and 15mm offset. i know that closer to 5.5" would be better but i wonder if these might do the trick.

Mine are 18 x 8.5 and 5-3/4 of 5-1/8 b.s. can't remember for sure... the 5-1/8 has +10 mm off set and the 5-3/5 has the +25 mm off set.. they don't hardly stick out at all... I will try to take some pic's this afternoon when the wife gets home with the camera...

mounted the 35's on the 17x8.5 wheels with 5" of backspacing and +6mm offset and after just a little bit of fender flare trimming... they fit with no rub so far. just to be safe i may cut/grind a little bit of the pinch weld out in the wheel well. thanx to everyone who helped out with the good bs/offset info.

i was thinking of grinding or trimming to get a finished look and get a nice clean line with my trimmed fender flares- how much rubbing were you getting in the back with your 37's?

The finished look

No one noticed that I modified the fenders.

As for rubbing, it depended on the wheels. With the stock wheels, the 37s rubbed the sway bar and control arms before full lock. There was also some minor fender contact. I resolved that by just moving the fender back on the bolts and some trimming of the plastic. You can see that in the original picture. That and search on my and you should see many write ups.

With the Weld, 5.5 BS if I recall, wheels the control arm and sway bar rubbing went away, but there was more fender contact. Then I cut some of the lower fender off, bent the pinch weld and cut more plastic.

Now with the H2s they work just like the Welds. I don't have any fender contact through the suspension movement. I have thought about new control arms, but can't justify the price when things work.

i was thinking about adjustable control arms myself but axle is still pretty much centered, truck takes an alignment fine and don't want to move axle forward just for clearance and wind up with a bad case of bump steer.
