Question Torque converter upgrade

Bought the truck used about a month and a half ago with the Banks six gun & speed loader.
Problems have shown up already, I have to put the thing in 4 wheel drive upon occasion to get her to move over small terain and dealership says it's the torque converter and you guessed it...$100 bucks for deductable Has anyone upgraded the torque converter like Banks suggests in the manual?? If so what is best and what is cost effective?

you can get a good tq con that will hold mid 600s for around 800 ,a little more or less depending on how big a name brand you use

Is it down shifting to first? Does anything change when you manually put in 1st?

I may have the same prob. Bought my 05 with only 2400 miles a couple of months ago. It already had the Banks six-gun tuner installed. I just got the check eng light this weekend while towing a 25ft TT. The fault code indicates a TCC solenoid. Is my tranny toast already? Does the banks system void the factory warranty on my truck?

ICG, 2400 miles with a banks six gun?? I wonder what guy did to the truck with that six gun that he got rid of the truck so quick. You will definitely want to remove the six gun when you take it to the dealer.

The dodge trannies start out in 3rd gear fairly often.

Give the guys over at DTT a call They are very helpful on any trans problem and can give you a idea on a TC. http://www.dieseltrans.com
I love the way my truck hooks up now! Best money I spent!
Good Luck!

Check TCC connector and 4-pin six gun tuner connector. Monitor the frequency of code. You may need to contact Banks tech service after you gather some info. Do you have a bypass plug for the system so it can be removed for the trip to the shop? My truck did not but Banks was kind enough to send me one "freebie" (those guys are good to work with). Most dealers will tell you any mods over factory kill warranty. If you do not use the bypass plug the check engine light will come on and a code will be stored in the factory computer and the engine will not start See section 9 of the Banks manual if you got one and if not call Banks to get one e-mailed to you. Good luck

Mine has been noticed only in reverse Maybe a small amount of lag between shifts at most. Once I thought I smelled clutch while on the third setting driving on the highway loaded but as soon as that happened I cranked her down to factory (maybe a panic?).

Your trans shouldn't be having problems after only 2400 miles regardless of the box unless that mileage is 1/4 mile at a time!!! I'd pull the Six gun off and get it to the dealer....
