Drop down to 60-65 mph and your mileage will increase dramatically!! I know it's hard but tough times call for tough measures..

These mods help the lower end, so does these mods hurt the upper end?

I haven't notice any changes is the upper rpm range, other than maybe a little more smoke.

I have only noticed more pull. I really haven't noticed anything bad with the performance. In fact, when I installed my sensor and went for a "test run" I chirped the tires going into second. I also had to let out of a small power brake because my tires were just spinin'. I like the way the truck feels with the sensor, but I was hoping for the extra mileage. I am going to try to let out of it for the ride back home and do the speed limit (75MPH). I will give you guys a SITREP (situation report) on my findings. Talk to you later...

My lowely SO, without the boxes turned on, would never spin the tires even if I powerbraked it. After the mod, I can! It's got to be worth a good bit of Tq on the bottom end....

rmalone, there is some play once you hog out the hole so that's the adjustability. As far as "Clocking it" which I assume you are talking about marking it so you know where it's at, I really don't think it's possible. There's so little play there and the slightest bit makes a big difference. You just have to go by feel......

cvpuller....... I'd like to see your results. My 06 3500 Dulley is only good for 12MPG on the hwy...and that's 70-75 MPH! I'd love to get some kind'a better fuel mileage. Heck, if I got 16 or better all the time....I'd almost be happy.

Timing Ring

Opened up my dowel hole, got some low end pull, but my mileage took a serious dump. 17mpg to 14mgp after. I am going to turn it back and see if it helps.

NEEDED Computer Geek with equip.

Sounds like someone like marco is in damand here. With so many different mpg being reported there has got to be something going on with the computers on these trucks. If some are getting 20+ and others 12 on the hwy it can't all be driving habits. Well riding the brake with the left foot maybe. There are so many TSB and people still see varied result what is going on? If cummins has the computer programed the same on these trucks then what is causeing the huge swings in mileage.

JP,
Before you do that run some Power Service Diesel Klean in the tank. See if there's a change in fuel economy. If there is a noticable increase in fuel economy most likely it's the fuel you're using. No increase, retard the timing slightly.

Yeah, I'm about to start running slower. My trucks an SO too, and when I keep it in the 60-65 range I'll jump up as high as 23 mpg pretty consistantly. I ran to Fairbanks a couple months ago, pretty hilly drive, unloaded, at 60 the majority of the way, and averaged 23 mpg.
