I have been reading this and a few other forums and my info. gathered is that it depends on the truck. Some trucks have rattled with the tone ring and no other mods. Some are running the tone ring mod. Rokktech and a programmer or chip which effects timing. I personnaly have done the tone ring and waiting for my BDDL to get back from being updated with a new flash. If my truck rattles with both I will just loosen the dampner bolts and set the tone ring back to stock. Putting the tone ring back to stock is very easy, if for some reason your truck rattles. Good luck.

Tone Rig Mod and BDDL

I have done the Rokkteck sensor and had the quad zxt box stacked with the BDDL On Performance and had no problems. I am getting 20-22 mpg hand calculated.

I run my BDPP downloader on Performance setting (90hp) all the time and have the tone ring cranked. No problems here other than the ocasional clatter on cold start-ups.

Did you see an increase in MPG when you did the tone ring mod on top of the BDPP? I'm looking to do the same.

Is there anything wrong with having cold start clatter? (newbie question)

Thanks.

Yes, I do get a MPG increase when I can keep my foot out of it. As for the cold start clatter, I don`t think its because of too much timing. I moved the tone wheel back to stock and it didn`t change the clatter. There are several threads here and on TDR about checking your valve clearance. I checked mine and it was out along with everyone else. After I adjusted mine and brought all the valves within spec and all matched, my clatter was all but gone.
