TNT on stock truck - Typical results or is something wrong?

I have done some reading on here and figured out that TNT on a stock truck is not the best idea. I only put it on the truck because I do not feel like I get the proper results from Revo, and still dont think I get the results from TNT either.

Here is the run down:

2003 6spd Stock Turbo/Injectors FASS SB3250 DD

TNT Level 8, TM 4, IT 2, RP 2

@ Idle RP = 6k
@ 70 RP = 13-15k Boost = 12-15psi EGT = 700
@ WOT RP = 23-26k Boost = 30psi EGT = 12-1400

All numbers at WOT are in 6th and take a good run to get to. Usually at about 95 mph and redline barely gets me to 30psi and 1400 degrees.

Why does it not smoke like crazy? I would expect this setting on my stock turbo to smoke and have high EGT's very easily. Am I wrong? Only way to get smoke is to put the petal on the floor at low RPM. Smoke is not my goal, it just seems like it should be a result and I dont have it.

Thoughts?

smoke comes from unburnt fuel. with a stock fuel pump you are not supplying your Rail and injectors enough fuel with the TNT. if you want more (power) then your next upgrade is a aftermarket fuel pump. As for you boost, those numbers seem low. i was able to hit 43psi on a stock system before my upgrades. But that is with a auto. Try WOT in 5th since that is the 1:1 ratio.

I have a FASS lift pump - or do you mean I need to upgrade my CP3? Also, if I was not supplying enough fuel, wouldnt I see that in my RP numbers? Thanks for the input.

Since your topic said stock truck I was under the impression you only have the smarty.
With the fass you should be fine, i can bellow some smoke out until my RPM's reach about 2200 and boost peaks above 20psi. I still have a stock injection pump (CP3). Anything after that and there is a haze of smoke. I judge my fuel/air ratio on power to the ground and not the amount of smoke that comes out.

I will say that there is something wrong with your boost though, you should be getting more then 30psi.

I will have to do that. Wouldnt that help produce more boost thus reduce unburned fuel?

Stock CP3 will not support TNT SW#8, regardless of what your rail pressure says. You can prove it yourself on a dyno.

Its because tnt sucks on 03's. The only thing that runs decent is the beta 4.2, which I guess i'll be running as long as I have a smarty. Thinking of changing programmers because Marco seems to be done working on our year trucks. They only worry about 6.7's now it seems.

Only on some 03's, and I have to admit, I was in this category for awhile.

It runs sweet on my truck now.... once I actually got the timing to change, timing 3 or 4 and my truck is happy, timing 2 not so much.

Why wouldnt the timing change? What was the problem with timing 2?

That's just the nature of the 03. CP3 upgrade, larger turbo, and injectors are mandatory to make good power like 500whp. I have a big 66mm silver bullet, FASS, w/ TNT and make 460whp. I didn't feel much of a SOTP difference when I did the turbo swap. I'm now thinking about down sizing my turbo because ive given up on going fast in a 03 6 speed especially since I have a dual disk clutch. I wouldn't mind driving into a shop and having them swap in a 04.5+ turbo for my Silverbullet and send me on my way.

Timing #2 is too much for my truck, would run real strong, but not smooth or without popping and banging at WOT.

I do not know why my timing would not change, it would/still does, take me about 3 downloads before certain options will change, and I know you have to reload the sw before an option change will take place.

The same thing happened with "shift de-fuel", I had a heck of a time getting it back to "on". I had to keep downloading the sw several times before it finally took, I even got my little circle around the shift indicator back, but it was still ripping my head off every time it shifted. Finally after several downloads, it returned to normal.

So any 03/04 owner's having trouble with TNT, I suggest downloading the sw several times after changing your timing to 3 in options, you may be surprised.

Think we are all missing the point of the OP.

Stock truck with a full Smarty on the upper levels. Stock Smarty software, TNT, whatever. Power is severly lacking.

6th gear 1000RPM and the foot on the floor hardly creates a haze.

What could the causes be here? lift pump is supplying the pressure (HPFP FASS), CP3 seems to be ramping up the pressure ok. Why no power?

A Smarty with a fuel supply on a stock truck, especially a stock 03 manual with that 9cm exhaust housing should get HOT FAST!! and be beating the turbo to hell!
