Yes, too much timing, down low, every truck is different.

Feed it too much in low rpm's, CP3 can not keep up, it will pop, burst, stumble, stock CP3 can only do so much.

I noticed today that the

SW9
tq 3
timing 3
rp2

produces hardley any smoke on my truck. My egt never get over 1200'

I had quite a bit of rattle on 1 and 2 but it now seems to be way down on power.

I'm gonna try timing on 2 and see if that brings the power back.

Thanks I guess it is time for a modded pump now. May as well get some sticks, springs, and a 2nd turbo while I am at it Darn Smarty is the most expensive thing I have ever bought

I experienced the pop and agree it must be from too much timing, but I was told to leave it on 0 default for the best results. No popping then (it only did it once) but power is down. i couldn't stand how much longer it took to get the 62 to spool past 15psi. I will admit though by lookking at the speedometer the truck showed it was going pretty fast.... I just like the SOTP feeling of the 4.4.

Slowsix, if you could, let me know what combo you find best on your truck as far as SOTP and spoolup so I have an idea when I try it again...

And....

those of ya'll with the MP-8 on 03-04s, what are ya'll setting everything to (smarty and MP-8) and what is working the best. If I can get the TNT with the MP_8 to produce better results I'd be just as happy. But I know it will play well with the 4.4.

The 4k rpm option is only in the R version.

I went to timing 3 and no more popping Still pulls really strong and smokes like a brush fire. Tried TM 2 again and the pop was back so I have found the settings my truck likes. Gotta love this program and it only takes a few minutes to change each setting which is great. I watched the rail pressure carefully and when I floor it off the line it ramps up to 19K+ very quickly now and the cp3 seems to be keeping up ... no big dips in pressure anyway.

Do you have stock injectors? What catcher and other settings are you using?

Yes I am still on the stock injectors right now. I am using settings catcher-9, TM-3, shift defuel-0, timing-3, RP-3, and it runs great this way. Very smokey unless light on the pedal though but I like it that way. I have driven it about 200 miles this way now and am very happy, no more " pops "

Yes, 0 is supposed to be the most timing.
