TNT (non R version) hit 4000 rpms today... ouch...

Running SW #5 (default settings for everything else), held the pedal on the floor to watch my rail pressure max out at 19,000 (bad FCA, waiting for a new one) and the transmission jumped out of OD into Neutral. Rpms went to 4000 and hung there for a second or so.

Not sure why it jumped out of gear?? What would physically force it to do this? It is a very positive move from gear to gear when moving the gear selector...

One small note, I haven't calibrated my tach yet. It shows about 900 at idle. Can anyone tell me what the normal idle rpm of a 305 hp engine is? I suppose if this is off by 100 rpm, it would be off by 400 at 4000. Then I only hit 3600... Hopefully this is the case...

I think Tom TCR has the same type of problem. It might have been a downshift I cant remember tho.

His was a downshift and caused some expensive damage. I don't "think" anything made contact today. But judging by the look on my wifes face at the time, I might have well as blown the darn engine up...LOL

If 750 is the normal idle, then I have may tach set about 100 to 150 too high. So I guess it didn't hit 4k, must have been between 3400 and 3600.

Makes me feel alot better...

I would still like to know why it jumped out of OD?

Figured out why it jumped out of gear. The Ford gear select cable end (that attaches at the tranny end) is bigger than the Dodge one. The throttle valve cable end was contacting the gear select cable end under certain conditions (they travel in opposite directions). When under the vehicle (with it in Park) there were no interferences, however when in Drive, the TV cable wuold contact the gear select cable end at about the 50% throttle position.

So when I was at WOT, it was providing enough force on the gear selector arm to force it out of drive into neutral.

It's fixed now...

No change, I brought my other thread back up to the top...
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=192488

I guess I will cap the rail next... eliminate that possibility...
