Tires. . . .How big??
#16
I ran a set of 315/75/16 Nitto's on the stock rims and never wore the centers down and that's on a 7.5" wide wheel. That's on a 2nd gen with a 2" leveling kit though. A 13.5 would definately be to wide to run on a stocker but a 12.5 would be just fine. I ran 50psi in mine all the way around they wore just as flat and smooth as could be.

I ran 35s for a couple years with no lift and stock wheels.
I ran 37s for a while with a 3" lift and stock wheels
I now run 37s with a 3" lift and some weld weels. I need to get the stock ones re-done.
All 12.5x17
I did do some fender adjustments for the 37s.
Pics on file.

The wrong formula is being used, not to mention a much more complicated one. THe correct size of the 315/70R17 is 34.36"
You do this by taking 315 and diving it by 70. THat is your section height in millimeters. Divide that by 25.4 (number of millimeters in an inch) and then multiply by two (since two sections of the tire, above and below to rim) and then add the rim size which is 17 in this case.
That comes to 34.36" Granted that is a totally unloaded size.
To answer someone elses question, the 35/13.5 is simply the height and width directly in inches; 35 inches tall, 13.5 inches wide.

Thanks for the info
I also have stock rims and tires on my Mega Cab 2500 CTD 4x4 and they do look small. I will be upgrading but I haven't heard anyone talk much about load rating. I tow a heavy trailer and want to stay safe, not lift the truck but still get more beefy tires.

My tires on my dually are 255/70/22.5 and come out to be 36.9" according to Sumitomo's website and they fit on a stock 4x4 truck with no lift. And my wheels and tires are rated at 12,000lbs. each!

Wiggs. . .thanks for your concern. . .the formula unfortunately was pulled straight from the internet after performing a seach of how to convert metric to inches for tires. Shame on that person. . .

No problem, and you are correct to put shame on that person! It's one of a VERY FEW metric-to-US conversions that is exact.

No steering stabilizer; haven't seen a reason to. That's cool about the caps; I will definitely have to think about that!
