Yep, this has been neat to death and a search will bring up all the threads.

35".

Go too wide and you'll flirt with death wobble. Go too wide and you may rub a bit at full lock. What's too wide? 305 is about the limit. Wider can cause some trouble.

Nitto TerraGrapplers 305/70/17 on mine. No lift, no level and no rub. So far about 25k miles on them, with rotating every 3k miles I hope to get another 25k on them. I am pretty sure you could go to a 315 and still be alright but after that you will need at least a level kit.

Depends on your level of acceptance. I've run two different 35" tires; BFG A/T and now Firestone Destination A/T. Both rub the control arm very slightly at full lock. The Firestones rub the inner raised edge of my Mopar mudflaps which I'll fix with my Dremel tool as soon as it's warm enough. The BFG didn't rub my mudflaps, but had slightly more contact on the control arm. Again...nothing that caused any problems, but full-lock in a parking lot would make a little noise. A leveling kit will not correct the minor control arm rub, but if it really bothers you, you can adjust your steering stop to prevent contact. You could also use Carli or Thuren control arms and solve the problem permanently.

I've seen Toyo and Nitto 315/70/R17 act the same as the BFG, which makes sense as they've got a slightly narrower carcass with a wider tread, and General A/Ts (and of course the Bridgestone Duelers) act like the Firestones, with a slightly wider carcass and slightly smaller tread width.

I put BFG 315-70-17 on my 2006 when it was new, not a problem. Wore that set of tires out right at 50K, now on my 2nd set. I added the KORE leveling kit, but that had nothing to do with tire rubs or any problems, just wanted it level.
