tire choices / cost on H2
#2
If you go with the H2 rims, don't buy the BFG All Terrain tires!!!! A lot of guys that have that combination experience the Death Wobble after they install them -- usually after the tires are half worn. When they switch the set out later, they don't have the Death Wobble.
No matter what you do, stick with the Load range E tires!
Anyhow, what size tire are you looking for? I have 35's on mine. I considered Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip, Toyo M/T, and the Nitto all terrain -- all are great tires and have a 35" load range E.
Just my $0.02!

If you are getting H2 wheels, look for a set that someone took off new with the tires on them. I got the chrome H2 with new 35's for about 900 on ebay. That way you don't even have to balance anything - just bore out the centers, mount and go. No death wobble here.
IRT the load range - I like the D's. They ride better and are still rated to carry 3195 lbs each.
Don't know what I'll do when I need a new set of tires. I may just start over with a new set from ebay and auction off my current wheels.
Good Luck.

What is the diff in E and D, my dads ford dually with factory E tires are rated at 3042lbs each, nitto 295s are rated at 3195lbs and bfg mts 35x12.5x16.5 are rated at 3415lbs ( I think, its 3400+ anyway) each. So why or how could a load range E with a 3042 rateing be better than a D with 3195?

I have 2 sets (of Hummer tires with the BFGs) and I have about 15K on them total. No problem with them causing death wobble in fact this is the first I've heard about the BFGs being blamed. I spent 26 bucks for a bit for my die grinder to open up the centers.

I also find my BFG tow just fine, in fact I had two quads on the back this summer and my 30 TT behind, total weight 19,200 lbs and it handled just fine.
