Thoughts on running a FASS & eliminating stock cannister filter

I thought I read a thread on this before but couldn't find it...

Just wondering if folks who are running the FASS are still running their stock cannister fuel filter?

I thought I read somewhere that with the FASS you could eliminate the the stock cannister filter... any thoughts... thanks...

Yes, I have done this. FASS eliminates the need for the stock filter entirely. FASS incorporates a 2-3micron fliter in the system depending on what you get. (95 or 150) The stock filter is 7-10 microns depending on whose filter you get. with FASS, you also get water separation and air separation as well.

I too have done this and have never looked back. As soulezoo mentioned, the FASS eliminates the need for the stock filter setup all together.

My FASS 150/95 has been on for over 3 years and about 75k miles now. It completely bypasses the OEM filter and canister. I have had no problems so far. I run a 3 Micron rated Fleetguard filter and change it around 25k.

So, there is no need for the canister? Do you just take it out? I have mine set up and as far as I know when it was installed fuel still flows into it. Wonder if this effects the pressure and with out the canister more psi would get to the cp3. I think my canister is used as a return.

So, also if it is still being used, somewhat, you would need to replace that filter every once in a while too?

So all you need is an eliminator plate for the return line? Once you do this then you can eliminate the canister? I hear some trucks throw the check endine light when they eliminate the canister, is this true? Anybody give me a link so I can look at and probably get the eliminator plate

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't have to remove and block off the cannister...
you can just opt not to put a filter in it...
yes...?

Would a filter cause less return volume that would cause less psi? Or will it matter. Do you need a filter in the canister since the FASS already is filtering? Or would the extra filter be a good safety net?

the fass has a 2-3 micron filter in so it is going catch almost everything and if it is small enough to get through the 3 micron the 7-10 micron you have in the canister is giong to be doing nothing.
