They sold me the wrong converter!!!
I just installed the Axiom Converter with the HD billet cover etc. (Tim Holt Mods.)it was suppossed to be a low stall converter and it is no different!!! I am ****** . What a waste of time and money, it is no different thatn stock really. I asked for a CR70X-S1 and they sold me a CR70X and told me that was the new # and the other was not available. It said Billet HD 48RE on the box, I even asked 3 different people at Axiom and they assured me it was the one I needed. I am sore from crawling around under my truck wrestling the Trans. for half of the day . I can't wait to call them Monday to see what they will do about it.........I hate this, It sucks to do a job twice when it is no fault of your own.

My DTT converter doesn't feel much different from stock during normal driving. It definitely stalls lower as I can now powerbrake which the truck wouldn't do before. It also shifts better while towing and my mileage went up .5 mpg. I did not see the wonderful "performance feel" gains so many guys here speak of..
Did you actually install it or would it not fit???

So what is it that makes you think this is not a HD Billet cover converter?
If it is what they are building and has the Billet parts and is designed for a certain stall speed range then I don't see your complaint.
Just what did you expect to feel with the new converter from the original?
Give a little more information.
If I am correct your stock converter is a low stall speed converter as well, so you won't feel much of a change if any, I think drag racers like the high stall speed converters for getting up the RPMs before they launch from the starting line to get the engine into the power band.
I doubt that you can go much slower than stock for the stall speed and still be usable.
As long as this new converter meets the designed stall speed and has the billet components that it should than they sold you what they advertised.

Call here!
Blownaway -
I just received the Holt mods pieces for my 48re, and the TC I got has CR70X-S1 painted on it - and the box label is printed with "ATC: CR70X-S1, TC, 618LU/47/48RE, Custom Stator". I went through AXIOM in Charlotte, NC, and the guy I dealt with knew the difference, and specifically had to track down the S1 for me in Alabama. Sounds like you may have been given bad poop - Call AXIOM in Charlotte NC (800) 633-3340, and talk to Bobby Rich (use the extension directory on the automated switchboard). He has worked this package for a couple guys from here and DTR, and is very customer oriented. Good luck!

Thanks JIMCTD I figured that was the case but I am out a day of labor now, hopefully they take care of me. 3 of their salesman told me that the one I got was right even after I questioned it. I have installed it and it does in fact have a billet cover so it is a bit more HD than stock but the custom lower stall stator is what I was after, I might try calling NC Monday morning.
