Thermocouple placement

Thermocouple placement
Suggestions on pre-turbo thermocouple placement? Geno's suggests just behind the heat shield where #3 cylinder is, but it'd be hard to get the chips out at that location without pulling the manifold. The "downward" portion of the manifold looks like it may have internal walls like the second gens did, so I need some advice.
Thanks for any help.

I've read some about placing the thermocouple and personally I think the best place is in the downward portion. The manifold does have an internal wall in the downward part and it seperates cylinders 5 and 6 from 1 thru 4 I think (or at least that's how it looks).
It seems to me you'd want to measure the temperature of the hottest cylinders in order to protect the motor best. I plan to put my thermocouple in the downward section.

On test trips we use the "rearward" downward portion about 1/2 inch above the flange that connects to the turbine inlet flange on the turbo.
There is an internal wall seperating the two and it will screw things up if you put it in the middle where it will damage the wall.
