I've never had that problem on this truck but I used to top off my 92 and it would always leave a puddle in the summer time until a drove a few miles...

The tank is heavy folks so the less fuel in it, the better. I was able to get plenty of room under my 2wd by jacking the left rear only. You take the parts that David Kelley sends you, drill a hole in your fuel tank, install and seal the new fitting in the new hole. Then you connect the hose, plug the old hose, and reinstall the tank.
You can catch all of the tank material by pulling the lift pump/pickup out of the tank. That will give you room to insert a bowl to catch the pieces of tanks when you drill the hole.
This is a pic of the tank pre-modded. The new hole got drilled in the tall end of the tank.
Done and back in.
After this mod I can hold 40 gallons.

I heard most are putting fuel line hose & connecting the two together, putting a T fitting in the middle & running another piece of hose to a filter that can still breathe air for the ventting of the tank.

What ever you do do not overtighten the white nylon piece. IT WILL BREAK. Of course I broke mine on a Saturday. Dave Kelly was great, but it still took two days of no truck. No problems at all

Smokey, it gets capped off with part of the kit. I just zip tied it to the new line attached to the vent by the filler. Remember, that is where the hose from the new vent runs to. the same location as the factory one. just did mine sat and I am so happy with it so far.

What I did with the vent:
I put the DKelly vent mod on my '05 last year and it always did great. Now I can't wait to get it on my '06. I could fill with the nozzle on full flow and still only have minumal foam at the end. Fuel standing in the 'pipe' in just a minute or two after the nozzle clicked off the first time! I never had an overflow problem; course I may have just never left it really full sitting on a hot day.
I ran my 1/4" vent hose up into the left front corner of the bed, just in front of the fill 'pipe'. That way I could fasten it up to the side of the bed pocket and attach the cheap plastic fuel filter up high.

I found junk in the tank when I did the vent relocation. Some of it I think was from the open 'roll over' valves and I really think the rest was from the factory. What will we do with these guys????
Want to see another good one? Are you 'using' any coolant? Take a look at the $1 DC hose attached to the coolant recovery bottle. When you find the open end of it, look down to see a possible secondary storage area for your coolant. I put a vacuum cap on mine and drilled a pin hole in the lid.
My kids know better than to do what these guys did here and there........
