Tank Vent Mod
I just ordered my fuel tank vent mod and was wandering if anyone has had any bad side affects from this install? Summer time do you just not fill it as much due to fuel expansion? Or is that not really a problem. Just wandering.

My tank was modded in Oct. but I always fill to the top of the neck and sometimes I drive 5 miles home right after filling and park on a steep incline. None has fallen out yet. The 800+ mile range is great.

When I fill up and the pump clicks off I can wait a few minutes and let the truck "burp" and add more fuel. This is a repetative process that takes 15 minutes and allows me to add usually about 5-7 more gallons of fuel. It vents your tank in a "better way" that allows you to fuel up alot quicker and fill all the way to the top!

It's the best bang for the buck mod you can do to the 3rd generation trucks. When I fill up now I put in about 3-4 more gallons than I was previously in 25% of the time. Fill to the bottom of the neck also!! Well worth it IMHO!!!

I'll agree that this is the greatest bang-for-the-buck mod you can do to one of these trucks. It used to take me 15-20 minutes to fill up to the filler neck, now it takes me 5 minutes. The install is pretty straight forward if you have any mechanical skills at all, and so far I haven't noticed any negative side effects. When I had the tank dropped I also fixed the "open air vent" problem with some fuel hose, some fittings, and a lawn mower fuel filter.

Just did mine this week. Best money spent on truck so far. DM Kelly is the way to go! Instructions are dummy proof, excellent pictures. I put in 36 gallons of fuel, I had approx. 2" of fuel in tank when I dropped it. I just ran a 1/4" hose between the 2 barbed vents on the top of tank. Daves instructions contained cautions regarding fuel expansion in summer. I don't feel this would be a problem unless you filled up and immediately parked in the sun.
