Tall tires on a dually

Is there any way to get 35 or so inch tires on a dually safely. I dont mind using spacers and the frount will have a leveling kit. Just wondering if anyone has done this before. THanks

Stock rims are only 6" wide. 35" tires will require at least 8" wide rims.

to be safe, yes this is true... but i have seen 315's mounted on stock dually wheels though... you could go with something narrower like the interco ltb's that are 34x10.50 but they are agressive and biasply tires...

yes there is a safe way i have on my 01 3500 now...it is a new size from swamper the tire is a 35x10.5x16 super swamper ssr the load rating is 3415 lb. per single tire...i have them on my truck with no spacers and i have about a 1/2 to 3/4 space between the rear tires...however they do not offer them for a 17in rim so you will have to find rims..

I just bought a '99 3500 4x4 dually with the stock 215-85R16 tires on it. It is due for new tires anyway so I would like to fill up those huge wheelwells a little more. These stock tires just seem very small and make the truck look odd. The truck will be primarily used for towing my gooseneck horsetrailer. The extra clearance is not really needed for that so I would also be interested in lowering it some.

I would like to know what size tires you end up using.

I saw a local landscraper with 285 BFG's on stock rims, stock lift, 4x4, 3rd gen dually. I didn't get the chance to get my hands and head in the wheel well to see space between the duals. Looked good but I'm still sceptical. I need new tires too.

Guys, the last tires I had on for 40,000 miles were Cooper M/S 235 80 17. I rotated once and then drove'm till they hurt. I rotated the fronts to the inside back and put on 4 265 70 17 which measured exactly the same height when inflated. I aired the 235's to 80 'cause I haul up to 35k combined (legal) They wore in the the centers more heavily. I probably could have got 45 k miles if I aired them down when empty but the valves are a p.i.a. With the 265 Cooper st on the front and outside rear and 235 on inside I have .5 inch when loaded. 265 in the coopers would def. touch. With 265 at 70 psi the mileage has dropped 0.3 mpg. I haven't got stuck and I don't think I could in my neck of the woods. In 4 lo I pulled a loaded semi trailer out of the ditch. The 4wd john deere in crawl and locked on all 4 couldn't budge it. Tranny didn't get over 180. Note. The bigger the tires the bigger the rocks ya fling. K.S.
