Lots of info from John Holmes regarding diesel trucks and their upkeep. Straight from a dealers mouth.

Found it.... Thanks CD

Well I just looked at my reciept and they put 80w/90w in it. Probably a blend at best. God I hate Jiffy Lube.

The capacities are roughly 2 quarts for the front and 4 quarts for the rear. (From the 06 service manual)

Guys check this page out on the Carson City Doge Forum that I was referred to by CD in NM. After reading this I will be using 140 in both diffs. Hope this helps...

Wap, I put 75/140 in front too. Gets hot here in Carolina in summer, and I go to Alabama where I am from, so i just put it in both. I don't see the harm. You're in Georgia, pretty dang hot there too in summer.

Well what the heck, I reckon I will have to change the front to 140 and while im there I might as well change the rear out too for good measure.

Its been a while since I changed mine, wont 7 quarts do the job?

Yep WAP --- 7 outa do it, seems like 4 in rear with a little overfill ( didn't want to keep a fifth of a quart. And Front was either 3 or almost 3. What you close to in GA. I used to live in Thomaston as a kid (near Maccon I think) and also Newnan Ga. Cool State, just came thru there and was wondering where Gay Ga. was, bought a used 20 ft. g.neck form my bro in law near B'Ham and pulled it back with my wife Christmas night to avoid traffic. I love pulling stuff don't you. Just wish I could have had something heavy on it. I love the G-56 too. Can't seem to slow it down.

Guys I sent John Holmes at Carson City Dodge an email last night about using 75W140 in the front diff in cold weather and he was his response.

Ken, I recommend the 75W-140 in the rear specifically, but it's not necessary in the front. I use it in both because I don't want to have to stock it and 75W-90, although the 140 is quite a bit more expensive than the 90...your choice. As for winter driving, synthetics are best and the first # is the cold "reaction" of the lube and the second # is the lube's "reaction" to hot driving conditions. So, to answer your question, both lubes will operate identically in cold weather. However, the 140 will perform much better under load when the diff get really hot. Pulling in the summer in the mountains, even with the synthetic, which lowers temps about 75 degrees, I see 190-200on long grades. John
