I would agree that TOYOs are loud; I'm comparing them in a 20" to the BFG and the Procomp's I've had in 35/12.50/17s. JMO, also I would agree that my milage went to S@#T w/ the Toyo MTs compared to the 35" toyo ATs I had on my 20s before. I would have to agree w/ cquestad on this.

Anyways...we can all get along.

I would put Toyo AT/MT with Procomp XAT/XMT and BFG MT for the top five choices for good offroad tires with civil street manners and good load ratings.

I just like one more than the other...maybe the M16 will make the cut.

It makes sense that a 20" tire would be louder than a 17". Less sidewall and probably a larger contact patch.

As for the mileage, M/T's always get worse mileage than A/T's.

Rim Diameter has nothing to do with contact patch...

Wheel Load / PSI = INCHES^ 2

I am not sure if contact patch has a relationship with noise...and if it does...I am sure if would vary significantly tire to tire.

Sidewall height...I guess one could say that less would transmit more NTV...

I have a Porshe 911 that has zero tire noise with 1.5 inch sidewalls...

Some tires are more quiet near flat...others aired to the moon.

Not sure about the mileage either...I would say MOST MT's get worse mileage than AT's...

I have never noticed a difference either way...but I am not a "hyper-miler".

i'm surprised to hear some say that the Toyo MT's are loud. i've found mine to be pretty quiet compared to the Mickey Thompson, BFG, Good Year, Yokohama, Swamper, Armstrong, and Dunlop MT's that i've run in the past.
with about 12,000 miles on mine, i've found them to be very highway friendly.

Rim diameter can have an effect on contact patch because the tires will come from a completely different mold. The exact height and widths can vary, just like they do from manufacturer to manufacturer. A 37x13.5x17 BFG is not exactly the same size as a 37x13.5x17 Toyo.

Your Porsche 911 doesn't have mud tires or a 1-ton suspension. Talk about not comparing apples to apples.

Could you run the m-16 37's on stock 8 inch rims? The Interco spec sheet says to run an 8.5-11 width. Is that .5 going to make it unsafe or cause any rim seating issues?

Toyo MT's are by far the quietest mud tire I've ever ran. They ride good, and wear good to boot.

You must have mistaken NITTO Mud Grapplers for Toyo MT's.

Yep that's the only logical explanation.
