Question Subwoofers?

I was wondering if there was any way to get rid of the big metal storage space underneath the rear seats in order to build a custom setup under them in order to throw in some subs would anyone want to elaborate?

This is what I did.

It was simple, just made the top to fit tightly inside the storage area and sealed it up. It worked out ok with the JL 10's and I didn't have to tear anything up.

otns of empty boxes for the space on ebay, then grab a set of jl audio 10's or 12's depending on budget, and what box ya bought, put the amp under the passenger seat screwed to the flooroard, making removal all but impossible without takin the seat out.... gotta take it out to put it in too, but worth it in the end. ditch the fold flat, list it here for sale in the classifieds for someone who did not get it with their truck that wants it.

I got mine from crutchfield, it's the MTX thunderform box with two 10's. i did not get the amp since i was doing the rest of the stereo at the same time and needed a custom mount for the amp. It was under $400 with speakers already loaded. beware of some of the ebay ones that contain speakers, cuz the speakers are junk. In my case, it was cheaper to get the loaded box with the mtx speakers than go the other route and find some that will fit.

I don't have the fold flat so I am good there but I wanted to put more than 2 speakers in the back, which the thunderform box only allows, as far as I know. I was wondering if removal of the storage space was possible or if anyone knew how? that is what I wanted to do.

you talking about removing the section starage space? interesting idea but not sure it isn't spot welded to the rest of the floor as they build it. lyou realy think you need more than what 2 12 inch JL's can dish out? I know I have the tens and it is great in the cab. and thats with only 500 goin to them. you can get a center console replacement enclosure as well, stuff one more sub in there, not sure if they can hold a 12 or only 10 incher, gives ya a shot with 3, without having to build custom.

I originally bought the thunderform box loaded w their 10 inch subs, sounded good, but I wanted more, so I went to a shop and tried a set of JL's, they fit, I bought them and they sound flat out awesome. I sold the mtx's to a friend and he put them into a cheap ebay box and they sound great for him.... I know he got his box on ebay, I do not know which seller. something like this looks like what he got, this is a 12 inch box with 7.25 inches of mounting depth. I will look up how much room a jl w3 12 needs for ya..... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=25 they will fit !

You may want to look into probox too. I have never heard the mtx enclosure with differant subs, but the loaded mtx thunderform cant touch the loaded probox eclosure, but with diff subs that may not be the case. I have had the sealed 2 12 probox and now the ported 8s and both have been awsome. I had to upgrade the rest of the system and add another amp to get the mids and highs to keep up.

wap is dead on the money. I was a beta tester for the first loaded dual sub enclosures from them, a 600 watt 2 12" sealed box. They are coated similar to a linex and use they best quality woods. A probox can be made also to hold up to 10" Kicker L5 solobarics. I would look into them.

Have you seen the newer ported boxes?

I wonder what 2 8" l5 solobarics would sound like in my box.

It drops as low and is as loud as the 2 sealed 12"s I had but it does better on the mid bass. The 2 8s are rated for 600 rms just like the 12s and I am runnin the same 500/1 with them as I was with the 12s.

It sounds dang good now, but it could always use a little more bass.
