Steering kick on 07 3500 Mega
I have been looking for a few days now and have not found an answer to my specific problem. I bought a 2007 Dodge 3500 SRW Mega Cab with the 5.9L Diesel about a month ago. I got the dealership to install a Pro Comp 5" Front / 3" Rear suspension lift in it. Now with the stock tires there was a some steering kick when going over dips in the road. I mentioned this to the service manager right away, so I could get it fixed. He said to wait until I put my bigger tires on the truck and see if it still did the same thing. I took the tires off my old 05 Ford F-350 Super Duty to put on the Dodge, they are 35x12.50x18 Toyo Open Country M/Ts on new aftermarket offset rims. Same problem after the tires were put on. Now trying to get them to fix the kick is proving to be a pain, since everyone I have talked to has some "guaranteed fix". My first thought was the track bar, but they say that it is at the proper angle as it is supposed to be. I don't want to start throwing thousands of dollars at the truck without knowing what is exactly wrong with it. If anyone has had a similar problem with a lifted truck and knows of a proper fix, I would appreciate it

have you searched under "death wobble"??? there is a ton of info on it
supposedly if you take it to a aliment shop and have them advance the caster to 5* then it will fix it???I have never tried this my self....
I would try that then if that does not fix it I would look at dual steering stabilizer set-up

I have read the posts on death wobble, but they seem to happen on non-lifted trucks and violent shaking and bouncing. I am not experiencing and violent shaking or bouncing, it is more of an annoyance that I have not experienced with my other lifted truck. It does still reinforce my idea that I have to replace my track bar. I just want to be sure before I spend a pile of money doing something that will not fix the problem

I assumed that after the lift was done that they would have done an alignment automatically. I haven't asked about it though. This problem only occurred after the lift was installed, so I assumed it was lift related. There is only about 2000 miles on the truck, so I thought everything else was good. Apparently I am making too many assumptions

can you be more specific on "steering kick"...if it's not death wobble that you're experiencing, then i think we need some more info to better help you.

By steering wheel kick, I mean when I am going down the highway and hit a dip in the road, my steering wheel kicks to the left, the ncomes back to roughly center.

it kicks to the left, even when the road is flat (left to right), but just a dip in the road?? does the lift have a drop bracket for the track bar?? it won't break the bank, and you'll eventually need one anyways, so might as well contact don at thurenfabrication.com for a new bar. i don't know of ANYBODY that didn't like the difference it made or was upset for wasting the money on one.

Are your trackbar and draglink angles parallel? do you have a drop pitman? bumpsteer is caused by bad geometry in the steering set-up....
On a side note I was talking to my shop the other day, they have to call all their customers that they have put lifts in for, there is a recall on the Dodge drop pitman arms, not something I'd want to have snap off on the hiway

if the lift you put on was the type that just uses a bracket on the frame to lower the track bar, get a new and adjustable track bar from thuren fab etc. Dont skimp on the track bar. about $325 for an adjustable bar. this will allow you to get the axle perfectly centered under the truck and help the steering kick.
My father has just 2" spacers on his 04 with stock track bar, and was having some serious steering issues (wandering, very touchy steering wheel, and the steering jerk you described) as well as really bad tire wear. I put an adjustable track bar on it and his problem was solved.
