I saw a similiar thread on hear and they had problems with stacks and cops. My problem is that I have a staight pipe with a 6in tip and got pulled over the other day for not having a muffler. I told the cop that I get my truck inspected all the time and they dont say anything. I still got a ticket and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this. I live in Houston, Tx and got the ticket in a small town called Corrigan north of Livingston.

 

Was the ticket for being too loud or actually not having a muffler?

 

In some states the turbo is considered a muffler so you might wanna check to see if that applies in your area.

Cop was having a bad day. Chack and see about the turb thing mentioned above. Ive been stopped for noise but never for not having a muffler. I drive nation wide no one has even mentioned it .

 

i think you have to have muffler if youi live in harris county.even though you were up there in that town wheres the truck reg.with the new emmisons you have to have a muffler.I got one in tomball in my 05 i had.i just fought them in court and showed where i had bought a muffler system and it had a muffler and then showed pics of my buddys truck with the system on it. and the judge threw it out.

 

Why was he having a bad day... How about he was just doing his job...!!!

 

texas sucks for straight piped dodges. i got pulled over by DOT for not having a muffler and almost got my truck towed.

I could see the cat...but the muffler??? come on!!! who cares if we want loud trucks?
I cant imagine a city or HP pulling someone over for a muffler MIA...but I guess I have been pulled over for no front plate MORE then once!!!!

Youre not required to have a muffler on the truck in Texas, the turbo is considered a muffling device...

Both of my trucks have been very loud, never had a problem from the police.

 

then why dont they pull over ever harley that goes down the street to
more of them with straight pipes than dodges louder to

 

Im a police officer in my town and our city has no laws about having a noise limit. So even if i wanted to do something about it I couldnt, not like i would anyhow cause i like it
The county I live in also does not have a no muffler law so really anything goes

 

Corrigan is such a small place and they love handing out tickets. i make sure to stay at the posted speed when I roll through there.....basically thats how they generate there money! you cant drive threw that town without seeing at least one person getting a ticket at almost anytime
