straight pipe
I want to straight pipe my truck but leave the cat on. Will this give my truck the cool turbo blow off or will the cat muffle that?

The cat's gonna muffle it some, but it'll be louder than with the muffler. Want to hear the turbo? Mod your airbox and take the silencer ring out.

I really want to straight pipe mine but i do not want it to sound like some of the trucks around that is so loud it just sounds ridiculous. If someone on here is from the South Fort Worth area i would like to hear one that is straight piped.

I followed DmaxEter a couple times. He was cat on, muffler gone. I had no problem hearing him but it wasn't too bad. It is, however, a different sound. Not like a 12 valve.

I put the muffler eliminator pipe on mine last Saturday. No cat on my '04.
I don't really like the sound. Pretty loud taking off and resembles the drone of a six cylinder gas motor like the ferd 300 or cheby straight six.
Sounds ok after underway and crusing on highway. Haven't towed with it yet, but I'm afraid it drones too much for me.
I'll be looking for a replacement muffler since the stock one was cut off(factory mechs torqued the snot out of clamps).

yeah putting a new air intake and taking out the turbo silencer will give ya the little whistle your lookin for. you could leave the cat on and still get that sound your looking for.

I replaced the stock muffler with an MBRP replacement muffler and left the Cat in place. Inside the truck it sounds like stock , outside the truck it is a little bit louder when in the go pedal but not nearly enough. Is anyone here running without the kitty and a muffler in place? How does it sound. Any drone?

You can get the muffler delete pipe for about $55.00 plus shipping. If it's too loud you can still install the MBRP and have a rigid system system that will perform well.

Thanks for the replys guys. I think I'm gonna order one of those muffler delete pipes soon. Intake is next on my list. I tried removing my silencer ring but it's installed in a stupid position so I can't get a screwdriver in there. Eventually i might get determined enough to get it out.
