Leave the CAT on and run a strait pipe from the CAT back. That is how mine is and it sounds good. It is illegal to remove the CAT anyway. Around here they have inspections, it be too hard to keep taking the CAT on and off. From what I’ve heard they are too noisy w/out the CAT and make no more power in stock form.

Ditch the cat!
Had mine straight piped with just a 4" pipe, left the cat for about two months....
Cut it off a month ago for 5" straight pipe all the way back(4" down pipe, no cat, 5" from downpipe back)
Sounds awesome!

I'm not a big fan of straight-piping, though it certainly is the cheap way to get a manly exhaust!
I TIG-welded a 4040L to the downpipe, and welded the cat-shell on the back of that with a turndown exiting just past the cab so you can't see inside...
Sounds very good.

The Magnaflow droned badly under load in my brother's 03. I'm thinking of leaving the cat(so don't delete this post ), and using the 30" Magnaflow on my 05. Will it still drone under load, or will the cat prevent that? (I had the biiiig Nelson on my 03, and it had no drone, but was a bit quiet.)

i cut the muffler off and replaced it w/ some 4". easy and cheap. i wouldnt take the cat off just for warranty reasons and it still sounds good. as it was stated earlier it sounds almost the same at highway speeds so thats nice, but mash the motor w/ the windows down and shes sounds great

Mine has a drone to it under load but any other time sounds nice. Too avoid some of the drone you can put a tip that extends past the bed to avoid it from resonating back up. Seems to quit it down quite a bit untill you get up next to something.

I just got the RPM Outlet muffler delete pipe which leaves the CAT in place. This thing sounds great. If you ever heard a straight piped truck and thought "Man, that sounds awesome but it's just too loud!" Then this is for you. Same exact tone but only half as loud. Louder than most mufflers but quiet compared to a true SP truck. Some mufflers give these trucks a strange sound but not this .......
