Stacks And Soot Paratroopers, How Do You Deal With Them?

Do you guys with stacks get the little black paratroopers at start up sometimes? I have to make sure the windows are all up when I start it or the little flakes go inside and stain stuff. I was thinking of using a chimney brush and running it through the stacks but I dont know if it will be enough. Do I need to put a clean out like the chimney at the 90* elbow?

P.S. its not just after the rain, it can be dry for a week and I still get flakes of soot flying out. Thanks TNT

I do not get any but I have covers for my stacks so that no water gets in. Once I get going down the road I usually see them but by then they are not going to stain anything.

Pretty much gotta live with it...

I had them all the time, usually not that bad since my truck barely smokes anyway, but rain didnt matter, still had the flakes on the back/sides of the truck. My 12valve was way worse, looked like it was snowing black flakes when I started it up sometimes...

Just dont wear a white shirt and lean up against it!

Blow it out once in a while and park your truck facing the wind. Try not to park next to a convertable with the top down.

I hear ya on the black snow. It really doesnt bother me, I usually wear old jeans and tool company shirts everywhere. The wife gave me a chewing because we were going somewhere she wanted to look nice for and she had light colored clothes and the black snow came pourin in. You cant just wipe it away or it makes a black stain. I had to wait another 1/2 hour while she changed again.

I didnt know if there was a trick or something you guys did to help. To me its just part of the character of having a performance diesel.

Another reason I don't want stacks. I have them on my rollback and if the truck sits a little bit then whatever is on the bed gets dusted. Very annoying.

Its not to bad but i ALWAYS make sure the windows and doors are shut. The worst part is i never cover it and when it rains it gets everywhere so i have to wash the truck

I get it every time I start my truck... I just do the same and make sure my windows and doors are all shut and they just slide right off the paint, but as soon as they hit the seats, dash, or women its over. I have even found them inside her bra.

For the rain, haha I live it Vegas... Whats rain? haha

it gets worse the more fuel you add, and its even worse if you have a truck with hips. I used to cover mine in the rain but it made no real difference. I also have thought about a 6" chimney brush from ace to clean it out a bit, but could you imagine first start after that . May have to do it and get it on tape it would look like you were in an ash storm.

Yeah it sucks, but oh well. I just use a nice hot wet mop to clean the inside of the stacks out, but no matter what you will still get some soot from the rest of the piping.

I went with no stack after having a truck with one. My fiance wants me to get a stack but I dont think she wants to help keep it clean. LOL
